Time is precious

Yes, time was something that I had a lot of as a teenager. Prior to getting my first job, I always wondered to myself what I should do after school and on the weekends. Should I hang out with friends, do homework, watch TV, plan out my next move on my crush? Should I write him more love notes and slip them in his locker? Oh, those were the days. These days, I wonder to myself where I can find more time to do things I need to do. Long gone are the days when I wondered what I should … Continue reading Time is precious

A random occurrence

After my Butternut Squash debacle, I was very hesitant to step back into kitchen. It must’ve been a coincidence then, when I was still recovering from killing my beloved butternut squash that my husband came home and asked me what the burning smell is. I feigned ignorance to the smell, casually saying, “Oh I was just boiling water. Nothing major.” He looked at me incredulously, with a half amused expression. Like, really. “No really, I was boiling water,” I responded. Yes, that’s right. Yours truly has managed to create smoke by boiling water. Don’t ask me how that happened—it just … Continue reading A random occurrence

A long way to go

Epic FAIL last night. Just when I thought I’d be successful at making dinner I ended up failing miserably. I should just be banned from the kitchen, period. At least for a couple of weeks. I need time to recover from this major failure. Cue the kitchen doctor, please. Apparently it is NOT a good idea to put hot contents into a glass baking dish because it’ll break. How on earth did that happen- you tell me! I’ve actually baked using that dish before – with hot contents inside, and it has never broken until now. With my luck, it … Continue reading A long way to go

A little over a year

That’s how long it’s been since I’ve been here. Although I didn’t go very far. A lot can happen in a year, and it did for me. Some things have managed to stay the same, but in the past year, it was a whirlwind. Let me tell you what I mean. I found out soon after my last post on July 4th that I was expecting my first child. *EEEK!!!*   It was the beginning of scary moments, and what followed was many doctor’s appointments, blood draws, lab tests, changing of habits (no more scooping cat litter! no more than one … Continue reading A little over a year

Celebrating my freedom

Sometime last week, one of my coworkers asked me to create a “Baking for Beginners” list–tools, tips and ingredients that a novice baker would need. I honestly wasn’t sure if I could create one…because, honestly, I’m very much a novice baker myself. There are many things that I still don’t know yet, and I’m sure if an experienced baker happened to stop by my blog, they would shake their head in despair at the crazy mistakes that I’ve made, and things that I’ve learned. There is so much more to learn. This blog is intended to be a place for … Continue reading Celebrating my freedom

Lady Liberty would be disappointed

I am a very picky eater. There, I admit it. I can’t help it. If it doesn’t taste good to me, then it’s not good at all. This inconvenient trait of mine must’ve started in the womb, I’m sure. Because when I started eating real food after turning a year old, the only thing I would eat was rice and sugar. No surprise there. I come from a place that eats rice almost every single day. It’s a staple that can’t be beat. Now, rice and sugar, on the other hand, is an interesting combination. The only way I knew … Continue reading Lady Liberty would be disappointed

I’m taking a hiatus

Seriously. Remember the last time I was here, I raved about cake pops? Well, no more. I am DONE with cake pops…at least for a while. After spending the entire day (yes, literally) making these bad boys and realizing that I could’ve done it in a more efficient manner, I decided that I need to take a break from all the sweets that I’ve been indulging in my kitchen lately. My short romance with cake pops is over for now. Don’t get me wrong. I had lots of fun with them. They put a smile on my face when I see … Continue reading I’m taking a hiatus
